VOICE INTENSIVE
VI Director Nancy E. Harris, retired college professor, performer, and vocologist, has felt concern for a long time that private voice teachers don't always have the time, space, or access to the specialty instructors needed to provide the full range of skills and information required by young singers today. Dance, theory, acting, All-State preparation, etc. (see our list of classes)--all things which work well, and possibly better, in multiple-student groups--must often take second place in private lessons to the very real need for time to work on vocal freedom, quality, technique, breathing, foreign-language pronunciation, and memorization.

Therefore, in late 2008, Nancy decided to create a week-long summer day-camp that would be a total immersion in the work of developing the total singing performer. A daunting task for one person, she immediately recruited Becky Bradley--a talented teacher with many years of experience in both public schools and private teaching, a beautiful legitimate voice, much experience in performing, and what seems to be boundless energy and good cheer! Together they spent the next year developing the plans and finding guest instructors who represented the highest of each skill they wished to cover in this initial quest.

The result of the first Summer Intensive, held in Denver in June of 2010, was high success, with immediate commitment by all of the initial participants to return in 2011 for a second week. Plans went forward, and Level II was created for 2011. The ultimate goal is to create four to six individual weeks, with a youngsters' level that will be only half-days, and four or five upper levels.
